I've been on a bit of a movie kick lately. It all started with 'Becoming Jane.' The part where Tom glides in to dance with Jane and she has no idea that he's coming. I love that mushy stuff! I get chills every time I watch that scene. Singing In The Rain doesn't have the exact same effect but it is, by far, my favorite movie of all time. The dances and the story as well as the costumes and makeup. It's a gorgeous, funny film. This is one of the final scenes, and forgive me if you haven't seen it, but Kathy is singing behind a curtain for Lina. The boys open the curtain and the audience is able to see Kathy singing. It's an absolute riot. I love the painting but I will admit there could have been more work done on my microphone...my dad actually pointed it out and it made me laugh because it is so my father's way of saying things. I showed him the painting and he looked it over for a minute. "You know what I don't like?" What can I say? He's my favorite critic. How can you get upset over a comment beginning like that? Anyway, so he pointed out the microphone and continued to say that is really was a stunning painting. Just like my dad to end on a good note too. Between us, I've already got an idea for a movie drawing for his Christmas present. As for real life these days, Dan got a new job! He's actually out right now getting an ID made or something for work. I'm so proud. Hopefully I'll be hearing something soon regarding my own career...wish me luck. Well, I suppose that's it for now. Much love!

Becoming Jane

I am so excited about this piece! I love this movie and this scene really inspired me for some reason. I'm just glad I drew something for the month of August. It's been awhile with everything going on. Still, I'm very pleased with the outcome. I know there isn't much going on but I love when Tom Lefroy steps in to dance with Jane and surprises her. Very cute. Anywho, not much is really going on besides work and hoping something will come of my trip to Orlando...we shall see. At any rate I'm inspired so hopefully more work will come from this little energy boost. Wish me luck.

Kerri's Wedding Gift

I didn't actually get to go to my friend Kerri's wedding but I did draw a picture of her and her fiance as a wedding gift. It took about 8 hours total and I'm quite pleased with the outcome. When I gave it to her I framed it and brought it to her at work. Of course it was down pouring at the exact moment we were moving it to her car but luckily we used a shopping bag so it turned out okay and made quite a funny story. I haven't drawn anything in pencil since Mason, which I don't count since I didn't do the same amount of detail. The last really detailed drawing I did was of my cousin Jason almost 5 years ago. Anyway, besides drawing I'm currently visiting family in Maine and today I get to see my best friend Charity which I am thrilled about seeing as it's been almost a year since the last time I saw her.

Self

I haven't been drawing too much in the past few months until I went to see "Soul Surfer." That movie really inspired me to draw some epic waves and surfers. I did a very large piece last month in watercolor although it still looks unfinished to me for some reason...Still, I've moved on by trying my hand at t-shirts. I drew this pencil sketch the other day and wanted to put it on a t-shirt. I've made a few attempts as putting my artwork on clothing and it has always failed, whether it be the lack of all the supplies needed or my rush to have a finished piece. This one worked for the most part except when I transferred my drawing onto the T I used permanent marker which bleeds...a lot. So now I have a trace of the drawing on the back of the T as well...eventually I'll get it right though. Anyway, I really like the drawing and how the painting turned out.

Before I Forget...

I forgot to say that Dan and I are currently hunting for a house! We found a few we want to look at but after our townhouse was bought while we were waiting for the bank, we're back to hunting. Which is fun, don't get me wrong. I'm very excited to look. I guess dreaming and hoping does good things for my art 'cause I am truly happy these days.
Self-Portrait

I haven't done a self portrait in years. At least not one I took the time to get it right...I scribbled a few out while looking in a mirror but the trouble is, my expressions. I make funny faces all the time without even knowing it so without catching them on film, I cannot recreate them. So I found some old photos of myself that I love! The pose, the white dress the angle...I love them. So I've been drawing a few. Here is my favorite so far. The picture is from at least 3 years ago...maybe more, but the point is I'm having fun with all these projects I'm giving myself. Go me! Haha.
A Finished Baby Is A Happy Baby...

Hooray!!! After 4 separate tries I finally finished this little guy! Phew! He definitely looks like the photo although whether he resembles himself I have no idea having never actually seen the baby since he's been born. All the same we'll see how his mother feels about him. This will be the last baby I draw for some time though, holy cow it was kind of a rough process. Still, he's finished and I managed to do a few other drawings in the past week as well! I am on a roll! There's a lot to post so we'll see...but I do think this blog needs a little color...
